this is the kind of thing that we could do a survey for. and not an online 
only one: we could enlist Gear Heads everywhere to subject others to .. er .. 
find willing individuals from the general populace and ask them a fixed set of 
survey questions (which could be hosted on the web, of course :).

take a set of text from various bits of the UI that use jargon terms like 
"PIM" or "Akonadi" and replace them with various alternatives and get the 
person to rate the alternatives for clarity.

perhaps even have an "Other" option for other suggestions.

bottom line: we don't have to guess.. just come up with a variety of options 
and then test them out. we can lean on our community of loving enthusiasts to 
help populate the study.

kde-promo could help by promoting the event. (ok, that was a real stretch to 
try to relate it back to kde-promo ;)
