Talking about quality.

Who exposes (security) issues in Qt3, KDE3 and all the KDE3 apps that lost the 
majority of their developers? Does anyone actually maintain that code, e.g. 
Qt3 or is it basically just packaged?

Dividing the amount of code by the active developers and comparing it to the 
time it was actively maintained seems to indicate to me that that code is 
basically unmaintained – yet not unpackaged.

Promoting unmaintained code does not seem to be a good idea to me, no matter 
whether it is some part of KDE3, KDE4 or any other app. And I'm not even 
considering that there is a huge difference between an active developer 
employed by Trolltech/Nokia maintaining Qt code and some developer who does 
not have that kind of in-depth knowledge. Same for most of KDE3's code, as 
e.g. the kwin developer pointed out in some article for a Linux magazine.

So IMHO if KDE promotes and thereby in a way recommends project x, it should 
make sure that it can guarantee its quality or at least is sure that the code 
is maintained to a degree that is comparable to its main project.
