I disagree here. KDE e.V. and its board are there to represent the KDE 
community, and as this is about the perception of what KDE is doing as a 
whole, the board is in a perfect position to make a statement, especially as 
there was a vote of KDE e.V. about project Neon, and there already was some 
sort of statement on the Neon mailing list.

Communication is difficult, especially if human beings are involved ;-). Even 
the love for KDE doesn't prevent you from making mistakes and things being 
received differently than what you wanted to say. This can hurt feelings, 
create misunderstandings and generally make things tricky.

I think there actually is a lot of common ground and not really a reason for 
conflict. I for one would appreciate a statement that makes it clear that KDE 
is committed to work with all distributions and make the KDE software 
experience great everywhere, because that is what we are.
