The e.V. and the Board are in a nice position to make statements in
the sense that they are a legally existing entities, and that to
outsiders, their statements might sound more official. Also, e.V. is
the only practical way to gain some insight to the contributors'
opinion, which was (ab)used for things like the Neon vote, but it
still is not an excuse to (ab)use that even further.

In reality, the position of project maintainers (in this case, mainly
Plasma) is much more important than any statement the Board can offer
(unless that statement is "we are passing on the unified message of
various project maintainers we talked to ..." - but this would have
the same effect as a same kde-promo statement, a dot article, etc.).

Just a reminder from ev.kde.org (overly lazy to open the statute to
see the proper definition :) ):

This is not a legal nor a financial matter.

I do agree. My comments above are not in regard to the mail the Board
sent to the KDE Neon ML, it is just the reality of things.

Tthe Board can not really be expected to have the correct "perception
of what KDE is doing as a whole" - they have a lot of things to do
without following all the developments in the community. I do not have
an an overview of all the things that the Plasma team is working on,
and I'm a part of it.

Cheerio,
