burning changing files

I would like to be able to burn my home directory to DVD+R while I work
preferably without using extra HD space. I have done this and usually
been ok, but when investigating what turned out to be a drive problem,
 I also managed to learn that mkisofs will have problems if files change
after the disk header (fat or whatever it's called in iso's) is created
and before the data is
written, and that data could be lost. Moreover, it's not just the data
in the changed files that could be lost.
 
 Does growisofs have this issue as well? Obviously if I'm working with
multiple files that belong to a project, I may not end up with
synchronized versions of those files on disk if I'm changing them while
they burn. I'm not worried about that, I just want to make sure the data
is readable. I think it's a safe bet that there are lots of folks out
there who burn their whole home space to disk not realizing that kde or
something is changing a few cache files here or there that might just
ruin the burn. I've searched for talk about this and even emailed the
the growisofs creator, but I have found/received no mention of this
issue, other than one reference somewhere regarding mkisofs. Thanks for
