Of course I know what you mean, I know you now :)
However I didn't want to start this discussion again, but since you
started see the "note: " below

My whole point was to help people on this particular point without
planning a (not critical) task which might take a few months to be achieved.
so let's go back to main user point:

Changing the geant's grammar could be a solution
(I like the environment variable usage since one can apply it to
existing script without trouble)

Anyway, myself, I am not annoyed by this issue, so let's see what Berend
(and other) thinks.

note: on this very particular point, I think (in this case) geant is a
tool which integrates an other tool
so for this very particular point, my feeling is this is the
responsibility of geant's team to adapt the tool to integrate nicely other.
but that's a debate I don't want to start here.
