If you search for efficiency, SmartEiffel is for you. Furthermore, I 
have said "SmartEiffel" and not "Eiffel". We won't implement what can 
make our code slow even if it comes in the standard. Furthermore, I 
don't like public bashing, but it is well knowned that our generated C 
code is very good (no to say the best, probably ;-).
