ord(STR) would be better, as it's what it's called in Pascal and Perl,
and unlike asc() doesn't imply any particular coding system.  ucs()
would be more accurate, actually :^)

Anyway, thanks for doing what I've considered doing for at least two
years.  LambdaMOO seems to be effectively dead, and it's time someone
picked it up and moved it forward.
