Hello, world! This is Simon Cozens, www.perl.com managing editor,

For those of you interested in processing dates and times in Perl 
(that's actually most of us, I suspect), there's a whole new 
project starting up that can do date handling and do it right this 
time. Led by Dave Rolsky, this much-needed endeavour is called 
DateTime, and has its own web site at:

Do you remember my review of ActiveState's Komodo IDE a while back? 
Want something similar that's less featureful, but free and more 
portable? Eclipse is a general-purpose open source IDE, and EPIC 
is a set of Perl bindings for it. There's a Perl editor, a debugger 
plug-in, and a regexp engine visual debugger. I think I've found 
myself a new programming environment.
