problem with sound

hi,
   i have very recently successfully installed vocal on my machine.All the servers are runnning fine. I tried establishing a call b/w two SIPSETS on two seperate machines, it so happens that the seq of msg flows for call establishment are fine, but there is a problem with the sound, i do not get any sound, neither while ringing nor after the call has been in established , i.e., in INCALL state. 

    I tried isolating the prob from some rtp test tools, and i thk the prob lies while setting the device specific parameters using the ioctl sys call  and specifically when it's setting the sampling rate to 8000 Khz. My audio h/w is an onboard Intel i810 device and is neatly detected in Linux. 

    Can any1 suggest a solution to this prob, would be of great help.
