This is not intended to be a "so there" post. More a, "yeah, been there 
done that".

One thing to consider, when you get it working again, is a cloning tool 
like Cloenzilla, where you can image the entire machine drive, OS and all.

Because I can't even imagine rebuilding my MH machine; it'd be 
impossible. So I back up the MH folders regularly, but annually reimage 
the entire machine.

I also realized the other day that the expected lifetime of a drive is ~ 
7 years, and realized a number of my drives were FAR older than that. I 
just imaged the entire system from the old drive to the new, and then 
used gpartd to resize the partition.
