Hi Rob,

The counters fail to count down and reset when a break is taken with the
wireless mouse attached - unplug it and the counters work correctly.
Very frustrating for a user - as he was trying to do the right thing.
The mouse used was a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse Model 1058 - if that
helps.

Regards
Petrea

This really depends on your personal situation; whether you want to
prevent RSI or are recovering from it. You have to find the settings
that feel right for you.

See also out FAQ on out website.

Workrave does not distinguish between wired and wireless mice. You
shouldn't need other settings for wireless mice.

What exactly is not working correctly with your wireless mouse?

We are in the process of doing a pilot project with Workrave in
selected sites in the government.
To that end, I have put together a manual about the program and
how to set it up. The one that has me stumped is the "brand new reading
mode". I downloaded it on the laptop and enabled it and I saw no
difference in the way that the laptop behaved.

Can someone help me with how to describe this in the manual?

That seems to be a common cause of confusion, lately. There is some
explanation in bug 926 (http://issues.workrave.org/show_bug.cgi?id=926).

I have no idea. I'm still using Workrave 1.8.5.

However, can you please, please, please share your manual with us?
Ideally with a open source / free documentation license.

Thanks!

I've been using break reminders for over 11 years and workrave for much
of that time.

Workrave is the most thoroughly designed software I've seen.
However there is no getting away from the need for discipline.

This last few weeks I've discovered a new way to work with break
reminders:

I set the reminder to 15 mins, 1 minute break. That's the easy part.
When it goes off I don't want to have a break, I don't want to get up
and I don't want to move. I'm in 'computer state' of mind.

BUT: if I actually DO get up and do some real excercise, not just
stretching or wandering off, but real solid excerise, such as push ups
(or similarly vigorous) then it makes a difference at the end of the
day.

At the end of the day of doing work like this I feel 'with it' alive,
not zonked. I feel like I've done a good day's work and feel pleasantly
tired, not tense and stressed from computer stress.

The combination of physical and mental is the key.
When I'm in front of a computer, the last thing I want to do is step out
of my mental state into the physical, but if I do, and if I do it
regularly, the payoff is fantastic.
It does take discipline.
It does take kindness to myself, when I don't do it .... when I say
"Ah...I'll just skip it this ONCE...." - again...
But with patience I get there.

Such a simple method.
Why didn't I get this earlier?
Discipline.

 Hello
When I try to configure workrave in OpenSUSE 11.3 I get this message:
......................
checking for X... no
configure: error: X11 required on Unix platform

I have installed xorg-x11-devel in my system. Any ideas?

Thanks

Howdy,

I've just updated to Ubuntu 10.04 and started to play with Workrave
1.9.1 (the version that comes with Lucid Lynx). It seems to work just
fine, but one thing that I find annoying and cannot seem to configure,
is the icon that appears in the Gnome Panel. I would prefer to have no
icon displayed at all and everything running in the background. Looking
through the preferences, I've found no option to achieve such behavior.
Is there a way to configure Workrave 1.9.1 to this extent? Would using
the latest version make a difference?

Thanks for your any help.

Best regards,

Marco Hunsicker
