JOB SUMMARY The Director, Field Operations Planning and Reporting provides expert analysis, interpretation and execution of Novell's field operations planning and reporting processes. This includes conceiving, designing and publishing standard analytics, metrics and reports. Also conducts analyses that answer critical business questions related to Novell's field go-to-market model and potential merger/acquisition and partnership candidates. An ability to work across functional areas is a must. RESPONSIBILITIES Work with the VP of Global Field Operations to create and implement overall sales and business strategies designed to achieve Novell's global business objectives. Establish and implement performance measures designed to track and report progress against the overall business and sales strategies. Identify the key levers of account and sales performance and replicate across WW Sales. Partner with HR to ensure incentive programs are meaningful and support the business and sales strategy. Partner with IS&T in the creation of reports that create visibility to our go-to-market model execution and performance. Provide analysis for model changes based on sales route performance and addressable markets. Identify, highlight and report against best in class performance to build overall sales effectiveness. Refine Opportunity Management and Forecasting methodologies and processes. Lead the Field Planning process including field coverage model design, roles, compensation, revenue, expense and resources. Lead the Field Reporting process including forecasting, pipeline and opportunity management reviews, invoicing and revenue trend analysis. Understand at an expert level Novell's financial, contract and opportunity management systems. Conceive, design and publish standard analytics, metrics, dashboards and reports. Perform complex business systems queries for standard and ad-hoc data mining purposes. Analyze business processes and/or systems to identify problems, opportunities, needs and solutions as required. Translate complex quantitative information into presentations that are easily understood by general management. Summarize and report key analytical findings in both oral and written form to different levels of management. Represent the sales organization during any potential acquisition and integration analysis. Support various business management initiatives as required. JOB QUALIFICATIONS 5-10 years business analysis/market research experience and a bachelors degree in business, finance, management or related field. MBA is a plus. Thorough understanding of enterprise software industry and it's sales processes. High-level analytical and problem solving skills required. Advanced experience with spreadsheet, presentation and word-processing applications is required. Knowledge and understanding of some or all of the following areas: sales, operations, corporate finance. Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement process improvements. Solid understanding of financial/CRM systems such as: Oracle, Siebel, Essbase and PivotLink. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience working with senior executives. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate high energy/creativity and a passion for business analysis.
