Jeremiah found the cause of the problem and so I thought I would forward
it to the list.

Basically, it looks like a custom compile flag that was needed at
sometime (I have no idea when, but best guess is around version 3.25). I
never recommended this option and I don't see any notes on fixing it.

So basically, DO NOT ADD

GTHREAD_LIBS=/lib/libpthread.so.0

To the configure command, it will build you a buggy plugin.

Kevin

I think I have found out the exact problem I'm having and why your not
see it aswell. I thought I had double checked this already but I just
did again and after compiling over and over different ways I seem to
have it where I can make it crash or not if I choose.

For some reason a while back a couple releases mplayerplug-in would
not compile unless GTHREAD_LIBS=/lib/libpthread.so.0 was given. But
now if this is actually there it causes the thread problems I cann't
remember the exact build error because I found that fix on slackware
or gentoo but it was a couple releases back and I have not removed it.
I thought I had tried it but I must have been wrong. Anyway you can
compile it with that GTHREAD_LIBS=/lib/libpthread.so.0 option aswell
and see it crash if you like. I would post that on you forum so if
anyone else is still using that to stop.

Thanks for you time.
