Click the "123" button above the exit button.  A button with an oval and 
arrows will appear.  Click it, and it should turn into an arrow pointing 
at a wall.

I haven't seen this, across two or three CD drives.

Do you have "auto play on disc insert" set?  If so, does this stop when 
you turn it off?

I find this irritating as well, though it doesn't start magically for me. 
So, entering the track data while the CD is stopped works for me.  Are you 
double-clicking on the track name to change?  Does this happen if you move 
to the next track by hitting enter in the Track Title edit box?

Can't help you here.

If a tool tip would suffice, it probably wouldn't be hard to add one, 
showing either the current track or all the tracks, maybe with the current 
one highlighed some how.
