I've been putting the variables in quotes. I think (but don't know for
sure) that the way you're doing it, the command line breaks syntax when
one of your variable names has a space in it (e.g. "The Clash").

Dunno if this is exactly correct, but it's working for me, except for Genre:
--alt-preset extreme --tt "%n" --ta "%a" --tl "%d" --ty "%y" --tn "%t"
--tg "%G" %w %m
