Thanks for the reply Michael. I took the box apart and saw there was
a cable from the first cd drive to the sound card but not one to my
cd burner. I moved that cable to the cd burner and tried again and
the sound worked! I can also play cd's on the first drive, not sure
why it works on both but it does now.

(there was also a LOT of dust in the PC, might have complicated things)

It is good to have Grip back with sound! I have found it the best of
all the cd rippers/players I've tried.
