Just to follow up on my previous message, I question the need for any
such service to require any kind of moderator privilege to the group in
order to archive its contents, as it's a public group, all content is
accessible to any member.
In that regard, I find the request to grant moderator privilege to some
stranger a bit questionable.
I know it's just my opinion, but my opinion is that we shouldn't just
hand out moderator bits to the content until we have secured an archive
copy of all the content.

In the spirit of trying to provide a solution to the problem, it appears
that the folks over at archiveteam.org may be attempting to archive
public groups.

I'm also going to attempt to generate an archive copy of the group's
contents using the yahoo-group-archiver script:
