Re: Software book recommendations...

Two left-field recommendations... "A Pattern Language" by Christopher
Alexander (the original architecture book from which the concept for
pattern languages in software took its name), and "How Buildings
Learn", by Stewart Brand. Neither of these books is directly about
software, but both have greatly influenced my thinking on the subject.

Another left-field recommendation... "Halting State", by Charles
Stross (fiction).
