Steve, excellent post.

My favorite /. post was in the form of a question:

"Why do I want to learn another scripting language when I have to 
code in C++ to work anyway?".  This question hits at the core for 
me.  If a language can't be used in the common workplace, then it is 
reduced to a research language, or even less, a play toy.

Maybe we should be asking how do we build a kitchen sink language? 
Perhaps this language should be built on paper, completely, before 
the first line of code is written.  Obviously, everyone has a list 
of wants in a would be 'super' language.  In fantasy, we can all 
have unlimited features; unfortunately, the laws of physics apply 
and will force us to make tradeoffs.

From my stand point, Pragmatic must be useful for the common 
developer, otherwise, it will only be differentiated by its syntax, 
and chosen paradigm(s); and why would someone care about that?
