My former student, Sandro Badame, wrote a refactoring for spreadsheets
tool, RefBook, that supports several of the refactorings proposed by
Patrick O'Beirne. The paper appeared recently in the proceedings of
ICSM'12:

We found that refactoring for spreadsheets has many of the
challenges/opportunities of refactoring for OO code: preserving
behavior is important, as well as improving the readability and
change-ability of formulas.
