I'm not familiar with the book however Python has changed
a lot in the last 20 years. Which version of python does
the book use? Is it even v3? If it is v2 then most things
will not work on a modern Python install.

If its v3 most things should work but there may well be
some stuff that has better options nowadays.

Can you give an example of the error you found,
that might help.
