Seeking advice to get going with EEG.

Hello.

This is my very first post and I have never ever used a mailing list before so I am making the assumption that I might do some things wrong and if that's the case I apologise.

I am fairly well oriented in electronics hardware and I have recently leaned to program AVRs ATXmega microcontrollers(Atmel Studio 7 with C/C++), and I am familiar with Matlab programming and have just begun learning Python.

I want to analyse my brain activity, just to see what is happening when  do this and that but also in order to control my environment with thoughts(having a mcu acting upon certain brain activity to control the lamps in my apartment perhaps, or any similar idea).

Here are my questions:

(1)- Now I am in a bad economic situation so the lowest cost is preferable but I don't understand what I need, is it enough to buy one analog board and one digital board(assembled boards from Olimex)?

(2)- What would be the point of having more than one analog board?

(3)- Olimex sells EEG-ANALOG-ASM, EEG-DIGITAL-ASM but then they are selling EEG-SMT, would I miss out on anything buy choosing the EEG-SMT instead of going for a ModularEEG design(1 EEG-ANALOG-ASM + 1 EEG-DIGITAL-ASM)?

The neat thing about EEG-SMT seems to be that it is delivered with an enclosure and Olimex are selling active and passive electrodes that fit with the EEG-SMT.

(4)- Would it be problematic if I wanted to use the data from ether the ModularEEG or EEG-SMT from Olimex for processing inside of Matlab?

I am very excited about this hole concept and I am trying to research it as well as I can but I have some difficulties in that regards due to severe ADD(Attention Deficit Disorder), I will consult a professional but while I am asking questions I might as well ask if you know if that fact could be relevant for the usage of a system such as this?

Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated.
