Hi again, ok I tried the suggestions, none of them worked :-( but thanks anyway :-) Here are the results: > Your IRC client is probably trying to connect using IPv6. Try using: > /server -4 localhost:6667 -:- Connecting to port 0 of server 4 [refnum 2] -:- Connection closed from 4: Success -:- Connecting to port 0 of server 4 [refnum 2] -:- Connection closed from 4: Success > or: > /server 127.0.0.1:6667 -:- Connecting to port 6667 of server 127.0.0.1 [refnum 1] -:- Connection closed from 127.0.0.1: Success > try leaving out the colon: /server localhost 6667 -:- Unable to connect to port 6667 of server localhost: Address family not supported by protocol > or, if your irc client defaults to port 6667: /server localhost -:- Unable to connect to port 6667 of server localhost: Address family not supported by protocol I could post my kernel config if that would help, but everything else here (normal IRC except incoming DCC, web, ssh, ...) works fine. Anybody got any other ideas? Thanks .. Alexis
