--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Software Engineer Location: Linthicum, Maryland, United States Type: Permanent F/T Closing Date: 2008-11-29 Position Summary:=0D The person in this position will be working on-site at the Department of = Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3) to serve as liaisons between CERT and DC= 3, working to support the mission of DC3 in their mission of assisting in= criminal, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and fraud investigation= s of the Defense Criminal Investigative Organizations (DCIOs) and DoD cou= nterintelligence activities. The employee will work with SEI and DC3 to i= dentify how SEI capabilities can assist DC3 in the implementation and ope= ration of the DCISE program, work with SEI staff to implement technical s= olutions and perform technical tasks, and will perform technical analysis= in support of the DCISE program. =0D =0D This position will be located in Linthicum, Maryland. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Education/Training:=0D BS in Computer Science Information Science, Information Systems Managemen= t with eight (8) years applicable experience or MS in Computer Science, I= nformation Technology with five (5) years applicable experience. =0D =0D Experience:=0D Candidate should have strong technical, communication, and problem solvin= g skills.=0D =0D Experience in drafting and formatting technical threat intelligence repor= ts and conduct correlating research using multiple formatted and unformat= ted data sources. Candidates should have 3-5 of experience (especially i= n a U.S. government agency or U.S. Defense Contractor environment ) in s= ecurity aspects of system and/or network administration as well as experi= ence with:=0D - computer security incident handling and analysis communicating complex = technical issues to non-technical audiences=0D - developing and implementing information security policies and standard = operating procedures=0D - understanding and managing risk in large enterprise infrastructures.=0D - developing strategies to defend systems and networks from attacks=0D - forensic or digital media analysis =0D =0D Skills/Abilities:=0D Successful candidates will:=0D - have a strong interest in and possess basic knowledge of network and co= mputer security issues=0D - be able to work meticulously with careful attention to detail=0D - strong customer service skills=0D - ability to work in a team environment with other team members with vari= ety of skills=0D - ability to work remotely at a customer site with minimal direct supervi= sion=0D - be able to communicate effectively within a team environment=0D - be able to effectively prioritize work=0D - be able to develop and explain technical decisions=0D - recognize and deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive inform= ation=0D - interact effectively with technical and non-technical audiences via bot= h verbal and written communications (e.g., technical writing, user guide = development, requirements analysis)=0D - be able to quickly learn new procedures, techniques, and approaches=0D =0D Mobility:=0D Primarily sedentary, long periods of sitting; ability to travel to variou= s locations within the SEI and Carnegie Mellon community, customer sites,= conferences, and offsite meetings with some frequency.=0D =0D Environmental Conditions:=0D Normal office conditions; however close contact with computer for prolong= ed periods of time.=0D =0D Mental: =0D Ability to work under pressure and changing priorities; pay attention to = detail; meet inflexible deadlines; deal with difficult individuals while = maintaining composure.=0D =0D Other:=0D Candidate must be able to pass a background investigation, obtain a TS/SC= I security clearance, be a US citizen, and work full-time at a customer = site in the Baltimore/Washington, DC metro area. Candidate will be requir= ed to travel on overnight assignments=0D =0D Essential Functions:=0D (1) Perform duties as a cyber intelligence technical fusion analyst and t= echnical liaison between CERT and DC3. Review threat data from various so= urces, including appropriate Intelligence databases, to establish identit= y modus operandi, and credible threat picture of hackers active in DoD an= d defense industrial base networks. Correlate data into standardized repo= rts. Develop cyber threat profiles. Produce cyber threat assessments base= d on entity threat analysis. Coordinate cyber threat tracking with partne= r and counterpart organizations. Recommend courses of action based on ana= lysis of both general and specific threats. Deliver reports, briefings, a= nd assessments to leadership, facilitating understanding of cyber threat = entities and environments. Support information assurance and cyber threat= mitigation decision-making. =0D =0D (2) Working directly with SEI staff supporting the DIB program with incid= ent, vulnerability, or malicious code analysis work.=0D =0D (3) Developing knowledge and understanding of SEI capabilities; learning = how SEI capabilities can be applied to customer problems.
