Is anyone familiar with PortableApps.com? It's a community
project to create a suite of open-source applications, customized so that
they could be run off of a USB memory stick, without leaving any footprint
on the system hard disk, with the idea they you can carry with you
everything you need, and use whatever computer that's available, just by
plugging in. This seems like the perfect venue for PasswordSafe.

Their website offers basic instructions for customizing an app
for use with their suite (http://portableapps.com/development). The changes
needed for PWSafe seems minor (they may already be there), and not
incompatible with standard use. As I see it, the changes needed would be
adding command line options to specify:

a) The name of the password file to load.

b) To indicate not to save the file location in the registry, and

c) To indicate opening a read-only file in read-only mode silently (in
case it's been burned onto a CDROM)

Otherwise, it would possibly also need a NSIS script to launch it.

Truth,

James
