Initial Comment:
When you switch between WYSIWYG and text mode, 
special characters (such as © or è) are not converted 
in to their HTML equivilants.  This causes problems 
in the way these characters get displayed on the web.

Hi!

This should not happen if you choose UTF-8 as your character
set. Translating characters into entities is quite outdated,
instead you should use the character set of your blog.

If you have already done this, please exactly specify which
serendipity version you are using, which WYSIWYG editor,
which charset and language you have configured and which
exact string you are entering.
