Initial Comment:
If I use the 1.0.4 or 1.1 event plugin for webping, I have various problems:

- always bat response:
Sende XML-RPC ping zu ping.blo.gs...Failure(Reason: Invalid return payload: enable debugging to examine incoming payload)

- often timeout:
Sende XML-RPC ping zu rpc.technorati.com...Operation timed out
Notice: Operation timed out in /var/www/itblog.eckenfels.net/data/bundled-libs/PEAR.php on line 848
Operation timed out

- does not skip to next service (especially on timeout)

- created article is not fully processed (contains UTF8 umlauts, missing <br>s.

If I save a second time the formatting is correct, the missing pings are not repeated.
