For having read the contents of the patch, it seems to be properly implemented (There are also some extra *.orig files that are useless in the patch). I would however not apply it to 2.2.3 officially because this branch is "stable", instead I will integrate it to the CVS trunk (current development) with probably some minor modifications. Maybe I will also add something to pass the date in a more human readable manner than just specifying the seconds since Jan 1st, 1970. Just missing an update of the man page ;-) to tell what option to use and what argument to give it. Seriously, I must congratulate you on the fact that you respected and understood the global architecture of dar.
