what I know (not that much :) ) is the cgywin is an extra layer to
provide posix/unix compatibility for windows. So in theory everything
that works under linux/unix should work on windows when using cgywin.
So maybe it's an idea to install cgywin and compile and install
hdup/tar/openssh and see what you need to install that on somebody
else's computer.... If have no idea what the options are here.
Maybe all you need to do is copy a few binaries over...

What I have running here is that I've put my entire homedir in
subversion. If I don't need stuff I can delete it, because I can
always retrieve it from the archive.
