I agree.

IMHO, if hdup3 used dar 2.2.x then it would be hard for other backup 
systems to match usability (hdup) and field-tested incremental 
backup/restore features (dar).

I also think the built-in ability of dar to split backups into 
CD/DVD-sixed files is really handy.

I don't know if it matters to hdup, but Dar is also available for 
Windows platform in addition to many flavors of Linux.

I would LOVE to have something like hdup available for my Windows 2000 
desktops and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
