In the 90s pmview certainly made sense but, quite frankly, I'd rather
hope nobody invests time in OS dependent, non-web based visualization
alternatives in 2010s - downloading, installing, and configuring them is
cumbersome and may not even be possible in certain environments. Also,
if the visualization tool doesn't work with mobile / handheld devices
then it's completely out of the question for many organizations. And
even if these were not issues, then accessing and sharing visualizations
over web is immensely more effective in global teams span over several
locations and continents than asking each team member to download /
install / configure / etc an application on their systems (if even
available for their operating system of choice).
