Ok, I changed one of the } to a ], and it should have worked fine, but
I couldn't get a file out of this, it stopped in the middle of
compiling (at Package jurabib Info: *** jurabib setup for humanities
stuff *** / Package jurabib Info: *** jurabib setup for babel ***) and
wouldn't continue (well, maybe after some hours, I didn't test that).
When I changed the second \footnote to \footnotetext, it did what it
was supposed to do, but it also dropped all the numbers (which is the
correct effect for \footnotetext, though). I have no idea why it
wouldn't work with simply \footnote... And the fullstop is only
missing in \footnote{\cite}, not in \footcite, but sometimes I need to
insert some commentary along with the citation, that's why I don't use
\footcite all the time.

But besides that, I think I've given up using bibtex or jurabib. I've
got too many special entries which I use very seldom, and I don't want
to spend that much time on an entry I'll use only once. I could manage
the footnotes by manually adding those entries, just as I do now, but
I wouldn't know what to do about the bibliography.

And yet, I'd like to beat my non-knowledge and inability! And that's
why I keep on asking questions ;)

@ b): I found out that \renewcommand*{\jbapifont}[1]{``{#1},''} won't
work together with citefull=first & ibidem=name&title. I therefore
decided to make two different files, one for the correct footnotes and
one for the correct bibliography, and defining
\renewcommand*{\bibapifont}[1]{``#1,''} differently, which also solves
my problem c), but if anybody has a better solution, I'd like to hear it.

@ d): I think I have to do it manually, shorttitle =
{"journalarticletitle"} and {\textit{bookarticle}}

@ e): I partly solved this problem, I needed crossref=long (and should
 have read the documentation...), but is there a way to make edby work
in jox as well? I know there wasn't a possibility last year, but maybe
something changed in the meantime, or maybe both styles can be mixed
so far as to achieve this, but I can't even make edby work with
jurabib.bst! I know it is possible, as Nick Sweeney's PhD thesis on
the jurabib-homepage has it like that. It should loke like: Ashcroft,
Bill, ``Resistance and Transformation,'' ed. Heinz Antor and Klaus
Stierstorfer, \emph{English Literatures in International Contexts}
(Heidelberg: Winter, 2000) in the footnotes

@ h): just as stupid a solution as that for e), I needed number, not
volume, now I get a series title and everything's fine

But now there are new problems:

i) if I don't quote the crossref (no matter where) I don't get a
correct incollection-citation but a mere stump; and the collection
itself should only have an entry in the bibliography if I cited more
than 2 articles from it (I know I read something about that being done
automatically, but I can't remember)

j) if an author is both as a single and as a multiple one in the
.bib-file, the programme doesn't interpret it correctly, it looks like
---.(which is good) Surname2, Firstname2 (which is bad), and Firstname
3 Surname3, another thing I could change in the .bbl-file, but...

k) I thought that editions would be superscripted (like
2\suprescript{nd}), but they're not, so how can I change that?

l) now, I decided to tweak the jox-file twice to get different files
for the footnotes and the bibliography and mix the printout versions
together, but I wonder if there is any other way to change, say, the
commas ``titleaddon'' is surrounded by? (I now let line 635 of jox
either be { ", " * titleaddon * "," *} or { ". " * titleaddon * "."
*}, depending on the context (fn/bib).

m) the editor of an edited book is Surname, Firstname in the
bibliography, but it should be Firstname Surname, like in the
incollection-environment; the footnotes, though, have the correct
formatting

n) there's a comma before the pages for incollections and articles,
how do I get rid of them? I didn't find any "," associated with that
in the .bst-file, and I'm not really good at \renewcommand.

These questions are probably quite trivial, but still, I can't figure
them out. And it seems there are only two people around who ever
wanted to use the MLA-style in all its nastiness, as I didn't find any
other posts on the net. For those who haven't already tired, here's my
