Wrong. MiKTeX did not do that. MiKTeX installs latex packages in
/tex/latex/

That is the proper location. I suggest that you uninstall MiKTeX
fully and start from scratch and follow the MiKTeX install manual
so that everything ends up in the right place. If you continue to
work with this installation, you might be using old versions of
packages all the time without knowing since you `updated' everything,
but that went wrong.

Read the prosper docs: the dvi cannot be viewed due to PostScript
`tricks' (rather bugs) that prosper performs to rotate to landscape.
Instead, convert to PS file, view that. DVI2PDF does not work.
