Yes, but this damages horizontal math spacing by TeX.
Without braces, one gets
x + y
With braces (something like x{+}y), one gets
x+y

Hence my workaround for left aligned equations...

Must be happening in the macro writing the postscript
comment, but that seems fine to me at the moment.
