But "initexmf.exe" sounds like an error at the end of the installation (e.g. when fc-cache is called) and is often harmless as you can call fc-cache manually later again. Check if you can use pdflatex, YAP etc. If yes run initexmf -u, updmap and fc-cache to complete the installation. > My invocation/option input was basic-miktex-2.9.4146.exe --private > --user-data=\\ans-fil-rv-1\home-rv$\hans\System\Programdata\MiKTeX\2.9\userdata > --user-install=C:\miktex29 > Now, I used the UserConfig file path to put userdata into folder > 'userdata' - is this causing the trouble? I don't know if it the cause of your error but it is certainly not a good idea to put one root in a subfolder of another root. It's confusing. What you can do is point the two roots to same folder. (In a normal multiuser installation CommonConfig is the same root than CommonData). You should also be aware that UserData can get quite large (one of mine is 73MB large, another has grow to 221 MB) so it is perhaps not a good idea to put it in the roaming profile. -- Ulrike Fischer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AppSumo Presents a FREE Video for the SourceForge Community by Eric Ries, the creator of the Lean Startup Methodology on "Lean Startup Secrets Revealed."
