Good morning,

I experience the same problem since updating my miktex installation this
morning. Until then it had worked just fine.

Neither my name nor any path in the directories uses accents or
non-ASCII-codes anything like that., as far as I can judge

Deinstallation of Miktex failed due to the API 113 error. "Manual"
deinstallation and reinstallation of a version 2.9.4321 does not improve my
situation at all.

I use babel [ngerman], miktex version as stated above, on a WinXP machine. 

I appreciate any help. And it's urgend, my diploma thesis can't wait.
