latex on command prompt?

I have just installed MikTeX 2.9

Seems there is a GUI now to use. It is a nice attempt at making things
easier for some audience. However I have problems with quite a lot of
GUI's in that they rarely do what I want, and seldom what I expect them
to.

 

How can I run latex from the command prompt? I have tons of tex/latex
projects and have always ran them from the command prompt. What do I
need to set to make that work with 

 

MikTex 2.9 fully installed in C:\Program Files\miktex_2.9

on Windows XP
