Texworks (not synctex!) inverse/forward search problem with accentsin path

Hello,
I have some trouble with forward and inverse search in Texworks in folders
with diacritical marks ("accents") in their names. There was a similar bug
report recently, but it's not applicable: synctex appears to work
perfectly (contains the right path with all the accented characters
right), but "Jump to PDF" in the editor's drop down menu doesn't work,
and "Jump to source" does not even appear in the drop down menu of the PDF
viewer. Everything works if I recompile the same files in a different
folder.
I wonder if this is a bug, or if there's a simple fix. Thanks!
