Installation problem of mikTeX 2.9

The first pass of pmxab doesn't produce a TeX file. That
sounds like a script trying to implement the three passes
for musixtex after pmxab has produced a .tex file.

Have you installed the musixtex and musixtex-fonts packages?
Do you have any local programs left over from a previous
installation which could interfere with the MiKTeX programs?
