Thank you to Aradenotorix Vechhom Vacelevus for his answer. I have folder that has everything in it – cls, sty, a single tex file, and a file called template.synctex. When I TeXify and when I PDF TeXify, I get a file test.synctex. If I remove the template.synctex from the folder I still can get a dvi and a pdf. There are no graphics in this test.tex. I am putting all cls, sty, etc. files into C:\localtexmf so that I can use these with other files from this publisher but I don’t know where in the hierarchies given in the Miktex 2.9 manual 4.6.2 where to put this file. Any ideas? I am using SumatraPDF at the moment as I was advised by WinEdt when I had graphics problems.
Thank you. Jennifer Harding
