Knowing nothing whatsoever about Mac OS or "vi", I would suggest using a st=
andard e-mail client such as Mozilla Thunderbird<https://support.mozilla.or=
g/en-US/kb/installing-thunderbird-on-mac> to read your e-mail (from your me=
ssage, it is not obvious how you are currently reading it) and then using T=
hunderbird's "save as" option to save the attachment which you can then try=
to open using whatever tools are available to you.

"Divide and conquer", in other words.

I am trying to read an old email or two with short tex attachments.
The email is dated approximately March 10, 2026.
However, on a Mac OS using vi as editor, I get email responses
saying that I cannot read the attached documents!

Is there something I can do here; or are the email attachments really gone?

best regards,
