One particular need we have, at the main place I work, is to guarantee
that all installed files share the same group, which has to be forced,
and that all installed files and directories are group-writeable.

We almost manage this when only Make is used, also setting the setgid
bit on directories, but if requires much more doing when Python
`distutils' manages the installation, and at least one of us is
convinced that NFS is playing dirty tricks or has bugs, as well.  All in
all, letting all our developers install using their own account is more
difficult than expected, and repairs are too often required.  Currently,
as a solution, all developers switch to the same non-root account,
exclusively meant for installing; yet I'd prefer that we use our own.

I wonder how Aap will behave, if I try it as a replacement for all this
machinery.  I still have to tame myself much more with Aap, before
starting to experiment it in that context, so later maybe! :-)
