Someone has to do some real work and they likely won't work for free.

The 'xmltv license' handles the xmltv format, library and programs. There is no common
license for the data that goes in and out of the programs.

Someone somewhere is going to have to do the real work of collecting the programme
from various sources and bring it into a common format, maybe cross linking it to a
series/movie database with well written loglines. Some of the aggregators offer their
consolidated programme free of charge for personal non-commercial use. But all that I
know want to get payed if you make money from their work. (they are licensing much
of the content themselves, e.g. from movie databases of other companies)


You might want to talk to goNix (tv_grab_hr) and port.rs (a subsidary of the aggregator
behing tv_grab_huro) about how much they invest into their EPG and what they charge
for premade EPG Feeds. Then base your decision on that data.

The xmltv grabbers are targeted mainly at end users. I don't understand what you mean
when you say "verify". It could mean some right aquisition, check if the time and title match
the broadcasted program or check that the files follow the format definition.


You can think of xmltv as the piping between lots of data services (the aggregators) and lots
of data consumers (the various TV software packages).

NonameTV works just like that. You have an adapter from the custom HBO format into the
common xmltv format which ends up in the programme database. This gets then converted
from the common xmltv into common DVB-SI with the custom Conax exporter. (there could
be a common base class for DVB-SI, but it's not there yet)
