Thanks for your help. I have a few more questions please. So it seems from your explanation that is ok to run cvs on a linux server and on the Windows client machines, install WinCVS & CVSNT or cvs.exe(?) as the engine for WinCVS? I downloaded WinCVS from wincvs.org and installed it on my Windows desktop. The installation prompted me to install CVSNT, so I did, accepting all the defaults without changing any settings. Does CVSNT have to be configured in any special way both on the Windows side and/or server side? CVS was already shipped and installed with the RedHat server and it's up and running and I created a repository by executing "cvs -d /repo/path init", do I need to do anything additional?

I'm somewhat confused by the 2nd paragraph; the words "cvsnt server" are throwing me off a bit. Do you mean if I'm using wincvs/cvsnt on a windows client machine, I'd have limited features, or did you mean if cvsnt runs on a Windows server, serving the repository, windows clients having limited features?

Thanks

Rez

Rez,> Does WinCVS require CVSNT or > is it a stand-alone client? If so, > what would cvsnt do to the files > on the linux server.WinCVS is a GUI only - not a client - you need either a CVS or CVSNT client to make it work - most people use a CVSNT client. It is perfectly OK to use a CVSNT client with a CVS server - many many people do this. Some features of WinCVS only work if you are using CVSNT Server (yes CVSNT server runs fine on Linux, yes it is GPL/LGPL), eg: revision graph with mergetracking, mergepoints, changesets, user defined changesets, etc.Regards,Arthur[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
