Hi, First, when starting a new thread, please don't just reply to an old one, since it can be confusing. As for the slowness, check to make sure your GL support is set up correctly under Linux. I have had experiences where on one ATI card my GL wasn't working, (when I'd render only the window frame would show up but no image rendering), but on another ATI and an nVIDIA card everything was fine. On Windows the vendors supply GL drivers, but on Linux their attempts can be very half-hearted, at best. Look for any GL-based apps on your system and if you have a problem running those, this is your problem. TuxRacer is a good test because most distros include it these days. Also, I've noticed problems where one Blender version was really slow and I downgraded to the just previous version which was about 2x as fast, so see if you can check CVS for a latest update, there may have been something with your version that had an incompatibility with something in SUSE.
