It is not enough to estimate the distance to the printer gamut. Colours 
can move from outside the printer gamut to inside the printer gamut,
depending on the profiles and rendering intent selected. 
Further, colours, which are inside the printers gamut, might change in 
CIE*Lab colour space as well. But it's harder to see this change with 
a pixel only representation. The tracing lines are more verbose about 
this movement. Switch print simulation on and of, or switch between 
different rendering intents to make those lines visible.

This is available in the CinePaint CVS and in the ICC Examin git 
repositories.
