Yep, I've got that in my ServerLayout.

While doing some more debugging I found out the direct rendering isn't
enabled for the normal user, yet it is for root.  (I scoured the
gentoo forums/blogs and tried everything they suggested.  My normal
user has read/write access to /dev/dri/card0, and gets around 700 fps
on glxgears (which is the same thing that the root user gets!?!)).

I'll keep fumbling around, and will report back on my end if I
actually do something that works.
