hi

i found the dri project through a link on the ati driver download site;
the problem i am having with the ati-provided linux driver for my
graphics card is that when i try to run google-earth, the application
freezes on startup..there is a fix for the problem, which consists of
downloadinfg an old version of libGL.so.1 and placing it in the
google-earth directory, but the problem with that fix is it makes google
earth terribly slow, so i though that this dri thing might help..as far
as i can see, its an open source driver, now, i have a radeon x1300
running on ubuntu feisty 64 bits and would like to know what i need to
download and how i have to install that which i have to download in
order to try it out and see if it works better for me than the
proprietary ati driver! is there a readymade rpm for my needs or will i
have to actually *build* the driver *fear, i am not too smart for these
kind of things :(

thanks a lot,

martin
