well maybe is UFraw to open jpg in Gimphoto ?

If is that you can get same result just installing UFraw on gimp 2.4

I can't image other reason since there is not any relevant change in
gimphoto...is just the last gimp with some extra plugin and script, and
few change in the way things are listed in the the menu

  GimPhoto is basically  a customized version of Gimp but core is just
the same
